The municipality of Garachico has once again experienced the impact of coastal storms. In recent hours, strong waves have flooded Avenida Mar\u00edtima, causing material damage to infrastructure and street furniture. This situation, although worrying, is not new to the town, which has historically suffered the ravages of the sea due to its location and geography.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At LIFE Garachico, we continue working to reduce the damage caused by these coastal phenomena and improve the municipality's adaptive capacity to climate change. The recent flooding reinforces the importance of studying these events to extract lessons that will enable improvements in coastal risk management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Preventive measures and actions in the face of the storm<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Given the forecast of strong storm surges, the Garachico City Council implemented various preventive measures, closing traffic on the avenue and thus avoiding damage to vehicles and risks to pedestrians.
