Innovation and Coastal Adaptation
LIFE Garachico seeks to implement nature-based solutions to address challenges such as coastal erosion and the impact of extreme weather events. Its presentation was part of a panel that included initiatives such as beach regeneration in Valencia, the recovery of the public domain in Alicante and other outstanding projects on the Mediterranean and Atlantic coast.
A Key Debate for the Future of the Coasts
In addition to the presentation, Ferrer participated in a debate alongside experts such as Javier López Lara, from the Cantabria Institute of Environmental Hydraulics, and representatives of local governments and associations in the sector. This exchange of ideas focused on two major challenges: planning and governance in coastal adaptation.
The LIFE Garachico project not only reflects the Canary Islands' commitment to tackling climate change, but also inspires other regions to adopt sustainable and collaborative approaches.
