The LIFE Garachico project, which is advancing in its implementation, has received a visit from the External Monitoring Team, in order to monitor technical and financial progress. Throughout June 25 and 26, follow-up sessions were held in the Lido Room of Lago Martiánez, in Puerto de la Cruz, by Raquel Navarrete, monitor of the ELMEN Consortium assigned to the project, who gave a positive assessment the work done by the partners.
Due to the good progress of the project and the number of actions developed, the expert has needed two days to learn about and evaluate all the work carried out to date. The first of the sessions, which took place on Tuesday morning, June 25, served for the eleven entities participating in the partnership to present the different advances recorded in their field of action.
These presentations were accompanied by a field visit to Puerto de la Cruz, where the characteristics of the intervention area were discussed, including the places where the cameras will be located that will allow the implementation of the early warning system in this municipality. Later, they also traveled to Garachico, where they visited the safe wave observation points that have been defined with the neighbors.
On Wednesday, June 26, the last day of the evaluation process, a single shift was established to analyze the administrative and financial aspects of the project. Navarrete has highlighted that the project is progressing in compliance with the commitments established for its execution and that, despite the high number of partners that make up the consortium, it is working in a coordinated and effective manner.
