Among the works contemplated in the project is the analysis of the risk of coastal flooding in the pilot town of Garachico. For this reason, it will begin with the definition, development and implementation of soft and hard adaptation measures, among which are, among others, the implementation of an early warning system in the location of Garachico and the definition of adaptation strategies through the design of anti-impact benches or the definition of a new drainage system that facilitates the evacuation of the sheet of water that floods the maritime front in storm conditions.
As a novel aspect, it should be noted that the analysis of the current and future risk, due to climate change, will be carried out in the pilot town of Garachico. The way in which this risk analysis is carried out constitutes one of the differentiating and innovative elements of the project, since the characterization of the vulnerability of the exposed areas and elements will be carried out based on a dynamic participatory approach carried out together with the ULL , positioning the citizen as the protagonist and a fundamental part of the project, and integrating in said risk the perception that these citizens have of the events that take place in their locality.
