The University of La Laguna was present at the XII edition of the 'MARE People and the Sea' conference, held in Amsterdam from June 26 to 30.
The MARE congress is organized by the University of Amsterdam, and is held with the support of the Center for Sea and Society of the University of Gothenburg (Sweden); the Leibniz Center for Tropical Mrine Research (ZMT, Germany); the Center for Blue Governance at Aalborg University (Denmark); Wageningen University & Research (Netherlands); and the University of Tromsø (Norway).
This is the most important congress related to research in Social Sciences in maritime-coastal environments.
This edition was dedicated to the challenges and uncertainties related to global changes and the effect of climate change, under the theme 'Blue Fear: navigating ecological, social and existential anxieties during the Anthropocene'.
El congreso, tomó el «Miedo Azul» como punto de partida e invitó a afrontarlo. Se exploraron las oportunidades y amenazas actuales en la era del cambio climático y antropogénico y las vías para investigar el ámbito de «las personas y el mar» desde nuevos ángulos.
El 27 de junio Raquel de la Cruz Modino realizó su ponencia titulada «Percepciones, interpretaciones y estrategias de participación hacia los peligros costeros relacionados con el cambio climático en la Macaronesia».
Al día siguiente fue el turno de Carla González Cruz con su presentación: «Vecinos participando en la mitigación del impacto del cambio climático: el caso de Garachico y las inundaciones costeras» .
