Tenerife filmmaker David Baute has been recognized with a Goya Award for his film Black butterfliesThis feature film, which combines art and activism, sensitively tells the stories of people displaced by the effects of climate change, using animation as a tool to convey deep emotions and reflections.

At LIFE Garachico we feel especially proud, since our project participated in the Canary Islands International Environmental Film Festival (FICMEC), an event that Baute has directed with dedication and that has become a reference in the defense of the environment through art. This festival, held in Garachico, has been key to making environmental challenges visible and promoting solutions from local and global commitment.

Baute's return to his native Garachico was a moment full of emotion, with neighbours and the town band paying tribute to one of their own. David, with humility and gratitude, highlighted the importance of his community in his personal and professional life, dedicating this award to those who helped him to develop and grow.

At LIFE Garachico we celebrate this milestone and renew our commitment to continue working towards a more sustainable future, inspired by the talent and message of artists such as David Baute.
