On May 28, 29 and 30, within the framework of the Canary Islands International Environmental Film Festival, the project will develop a series of actions that emphasize the role of social participation in the design of solutions for adaptation to change climate in urban coastal areas. The event is part of the celebration of 30 years of the LIFE Program.
This activity, led by Elittoral, seeks to promote citizen science in the observation of climate change in coastal areas, so that the local population can not only become aware of the problem but also participate in the solutions. In this sense, it seeks to involve interested parties and local communities in a participatory mapping exercise of the social perception in the local environment of the impacts of climate change.
On May 30 at 10:00 a.m. you will also be able to attend a presentation of the project in the Festival's movie theater where the keys to the LIFE Garachico project will be presented, emphasizing awareness of the problem posed by climate change. and the link it has with the increase in extreme coastal phenomena suffered by towns such as Garachico.
